Haarfijn
light sculpturehair, resin, polyethylene
With this highly intuitive work I wanted to explore the contrast of materiality vs approachability. When the room is lit, a person is reluctant to approach the strange statue. The visible look of hair, the slimy messy tangles on the surface are repulsive. In the dark, the statue emits warm light and soft reflections on the ceiling. One is immediately drawn to its comforting aura.
It takes something as fine as a hair to make a difference in our perceptions.
